The application process

Submitting your application

The email we send will contain information on how to register and login to our accommodation portal, including your St George’s student ID number. You will need this to process a new application. Please note, this is different to your UCAS ID.

You will only be able to submit an application once you have accepted your offer as firm. Please note, this happens overnight, so if you accepted your offer today, you will only be able to submit an accommodation application from tomorrow.

Students with disabilities

Students with disabilities should contact our Disability Advisor to discuss any medical conditions or disability which may affect your accommodation needs. You will be asked to provide supporting medical evidence to support your application.

Students accepted through clearing

If you have been accepted through clearing, you can still book a room in our halls but this will depend on availablity. Once you have accepted your offer, you should submit an application via the accommodation portal.

Receiving a room offer

Once your application has been received, we will send you an email confirmation. If you are a new student to St George's, and your application has been received before 1 July 2020, you will be guaranteed a room for the year.

We will be sending room offers to applicants in August 2020. If you are expecting A Level results you will not receive your room offer until after results day.

Once you have received your room offer, you will be asked to login to the accommodation portal to accept the terms and conditions of the licence agreement, and make a pre-payment of £150. This will be deducted from your first instalment of accommodation fees. However, if due to the coronavirus pandemic you are unable to take up your offer, we will fully refund you.

When we allocate rooms, we allocate students in flats with those on their course wherever possible.

Accepting your room offer

Once you have accepted your room offer, you will find further information about what you can find in halls and what you need to bring on our For Students pages.

Arrival dates

We will be in touch nearer your start date with details of your arrival. For students arriving on the main arrivals weekend in September, we will request that you let us know your time of arrival so that we can ensure a smooth arrivals experience for all. Details of this will be sent along with the arrival instructions.

Changing your room allocation

We are not able to change allocations once they have been made. We do take into account each application, and make an offer on the basis of availability. We often find that if a student is not happy with their allocation when they receive it, they change their mind once they have moved in.

If you still wish to change your room once you have moved in, please do contact the accommodation team so that we can explore your options.

Rejecting your offer

If you decide to reject the room you have been offered, you will need to submit a new application, which will not be considered until all other unallocated students have been made an offer.

Visiting elective students

Visiting elective students should only apply for accommodation once you have received confirmation of your placement.

We have one flat of six bedrooms reserved for elective students. These rooms are standard rooms with a single bed, charged at £172 per week (from August 2020 onward).

We are unable to guarantee accommodation, so we recommend that you apply as soon as you have confirmation of your placement. We can normally offer a room from the weekend before your placement starts until the weekend after your placement finishes. If you have any other requests, please make this clear on your application.

When completing your application, please make sure to select ‘Elective’ and enter the dates you are requesting accommodation (these might be slightly longer than your placement dates).

If we are able to offer you a room, you will receive an email asking you to log back into the portal to accept the offer. You will also be given the option to choose whether you want us to provide bedding (charged at a fee of £35) or if you prefer to bring your own. This includes duvet, pillows, and the covers for both. You will need to bring your own towels and any other home comforts.

If you are a student coming to St George’s on a placement but not through our elective programme, please contact the Accommodation team directly for information about accommodation availability.
