The Centre for Biomedical Education is the home of the undergraduate science programmes at St George's, University of London: BSc/MSci Biomedical Science, intercalated BSc, BSc Healthcare Science, and BSc Clinical Pharmacology. In addition, the MPharm, a Kingston University programme, is run by the centre in collaboration with Kingston University, and delivered at both sites. The centre encompasses the Undergraduate Science Administration team responsible for these programmes, and the scientific academic staff, with primary responsibility for teaching across all programmes; including undergraduate science programmes, MBBS and postgraduate courses. Members of the centre are also research active, and carry out internationally recognized research. Teaching is informed by such research experience and expertise, which is incorporated at all levels.
Dr Fran Gibson is the head of the Centre for Biomedical Education, which encompasses over 40 members of staff. Staff are located mainly in Jenner Wing, occupying offices and labs from the basement to the second floor, with a small number of staff on the 6th floor of Hunter Wing, and with the Undergraduate Science Admin team on the ground floor of Hunter Wing.
Who we are
Over 50 members of staff are organized into six sections: Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Anatomical Sciences, Physiology, and UG Science Admin. Each section is managed by a section head.
What we do
The centre provides a structure for coordinating activities and resources between programmes and sections in the centre, with other centres, and with the research institutes, and for line management, staff development, personal review and workload planning of staff.
