Internal networks
Athena SWAN SAT

The Self-Assessment team is made up of staff and students who support, promote and help embed Athena SWAN principles into all activities, decision-marking, planning, and choices. Details of the current team members can be found on the About the Athena SWAN team page. All staff are welcome to become observers at SAT meetings. Please contact Vanessa Ho for more information.

LGBT staff network

A social and support network that also provides input into equality and diversity work at St George’s. All staff, regardless of their sexual orientation, are welcome to join this group. Disability staff network

Race and Ethnicity Staff Network

The Staff Race and Ethnicity Network is open to staff from all ethnic backgrounds, including staff who are allies. All members of the Network are expected to be supportive of race equality. The Network also includes an additional internal group which is open to individuals who are from a minority ethnic background only. This group will meet separately from the main Network as a supportive space to raise and discuss relevant issues. Student Athena SWAN network

The student network host talks and workshops from leaders in science and healthcare, who share experience and tips on how to make it to the top. For more information, email womenscareers@sgul.ac.uk.

Student LGBT network

A student social and support network. Members also collaborate with the LGBT Staff Network. For more information, email lgbt@su.sgul.ac.uk.

Interfaith forum

The Forum is made up of staff and students from different faith backgrounds. For example, the group has supported students to reconcile their religious observance with the demands of healthcare practice. For more information, email Gavin Taylor.

Post-doc forum

The Forum brings post-docs from across the academic institutes at St George’s for networking and sharing. It also aims to provide opportunities for expanding skills for research and career development. For more information, please contact David Clark or Cathy Moore.

Academics' forum

The Forum provides a vehicle for discussing issues relating to academic life and work. For more information, please contact Roberto Di Napoli.

Access and participation steering group

The Group has strategic oversight of access and participation issues and is responsible for ensuring that the institution effectively responds to the requirement placed on it by the Office for Students. For more information, email wp@sgul.ac.uk.

Diversity and inclusion steering group

This group provides strategic overview on equality and diversity work at St George’s. The Steering Group leads and enables a sustained focus on inclusivity across all areas of activities. For more information, please contact Sanjana Panchagnula.

Race Equality Action and Engagement Group

The Race Equality Action and Engagement Group (REAEG) was formed in April 2021. This group supports and monitors the delivery of the Race Equality Review recommendations as well as assessing progress across the agreed actions. The Group provides valuable input into the development and delivery of these actions and builds links between teams to facilitate implementation and engagement.  For more information, contact Vanessa Ho

Association Membership is free for St George’s students and is automatic upon graduation. This makes it easy for alumni to stay connected with friends, opportunities, and with what’s going on including staff and student events. Women in Science Campaign (WISE) 

Encourages women and girls to value and pursue science, technology, engineering and maths-related courses in school or college and move on into related careers and progress.

Women in Tech

For women in technology and IT. Helpful articles and guides that can advise you on getting started in a career in technology or how to make it in the world of tech as a woman, whether you are a contractor, employed or even a recent graduate.

ScienceGrrl

A group of people who are passionate about celebrating women in science and passing on their love of science to the next generation.

Medical Women’s Federation

The largest UK body of women doctors. The organisation is dedicated to the advancement of the personal and professional development of women in medicine and to improving the health of women and their families in society.

Inspiring Women in Medicine (IWIM)

A supportive and inclusive network of women working in the medical world who are there to help to inspire, encourage, connect and support other women.

The Scientista Foundation

Anti-aging skincare brand Perricone has committed a $100,000 grant to the Scientista Foundation to establish the Born Seekers fellowship, a video speech contest recognising the next generation of women scientists.

Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World

An international membership organisation that provides research training, career development and networking opportunities for women scientists throughout the developing world at different stages in their careers.

Leadership Foundation for Higher Education

An organisation in the United Kingdom providing support and advice on leadership, governance and management for higher education.

European Platform of Women Scientist (EPWS)

Umbrella organisation bringing together networks of women scientists and organisations committed to gender equality in research in all disciplines

Association of Heads of University Administration (AHUA)

The representative body for senior university managers in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
