Note:    Standard checks must still be carried out to ensure you meet our GCSE English requirements.

If you have previously completed an academic qualification equivalent to a UK degree which was taught in a majority English-speaking country:
  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Australia
  • The Bahamas
  • Barbados
  • Belize
  • Dominica
  • Grenada
  • Guyana

  • All English language tests (including IELTS, TOEFL and PTE) or bachelor’s degrees must be completed within the two years before you start your chosen degree.
  • If you have completed  English language tests or qualifications more than two years ago you will need to demonstrate that you have maintained or improved your English in that time by studying in the UK (or majority English-speaking country). If you are unable to do so you may need to take a suitable English language test.

For example, if you sat GCSE English three years ago, but completed A-levels since, we can be confident you will have maintained your level of English, and therefore the GCSE English score will be accepted, even though it was taken over two years ago.
