Flow Cytometry and FACS (Fluorescence-activated Cell Sorting) are invaluable techniques in biomedical research and work in synergy with the other platforms offered in the IRF. Contact irf@sgul.ac.uk to inquire about use of FACS and Flow Cytometers.
The FACS Melody is our newest sorting instrument. The instrument has a very easy way of controlling the sort process. The instrument is housed in a Class II biosafety cabinet.
The Melody can run 9-colour plus FSC & SSC [1-parameter configuration]:
Each Colour is just an example; you should check that you are using the right colour by checking the filter setting.
Two-way or four-way sorting into the following sample tube collection devices: 1.5, 2.0, and 5.0-ml tubes.
One-way sorting into the following collection devices: 6-, 24-, 48-, 96 -well plates. Sample can be temperature controlled (4/ 22/37C).
The Cytoflex S Analyser has 4 lasers, permitting 13-colour analysis.
V4-B2-Y4-R3 4 lasers / Blue, Yellow green, Red, Violet
Sample injection: tube or 96 well plate.
Optical configuration of our flow cytometer see table
To design your experiment use Spectra analyser (choose BECKMAN CytoFLEX S V4-B2-Y4-R3)
Online training is necessary before use.
Accuri C6 is a compact cell analyser with two lasers (488nm and 633nm), four fluorescence channels, and Forward and Side Scatter. This instrument allows 4-colour analysis. The primary use of the system is for teaching purposes.
