Dr Anna Dulic-Sills took up the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO), with Naz Hussain as Deputy COO, for a period of six months from July 2023. Anna previously held the role of Director of Research Operations and Acting Deputy COO, whilst Naz was Director of Marketing, Student Recruitment, and Admissions.

It is a privilege to step into the role of interim COO. I am excited about the opportunity to support Vice-Chancellor Jenny Higham and develop a strong and collaborative working relationships with Naz, and all the Directors. I am looking forward to connecting, getting to know and working with as many of our staff as possible in the future on our shared goals.

As our COO, Anna provides direction and management for our professional services. Her responsibilities include overseeing eight professional services directorates, with direct reports from:

Anna's professional journey began as a research scientist specialising in DNA repair, where she earned her PhD under the guidance of Nobel Laureate Tomas Lindahl. Anna went on to do clinical science/postdoctoral work at St Bartholomew's Hospital and the London NHS Trust. She later changed her career path into research management and administration, and held a number of leadership roles at Queen Mary, University of London. Anna joined St George’s as a Director of Research Operations in 2019.

It’s a great honour to be given this opportunity and responsibility to be Deputy COO. I look forward to working with Anna in supporting professional services teams and the University in the period ahead.

As the Deputy COO, Naz supports the strategic leadership and direction in delegated areas. He will take the lead in, and oversee all relevant tasks and initiatives for:

Naz started his career in marketing and communications, working in a variety of roles in local government and higher education. He was Head of Marketing at London South Bank University, before joining St George’s as Associate Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment, then becoming Director of Marketing, Student Recruitment, and Admissions.

Connect with the COO

Drop in every Wednesday (from August 2023 to January 2024) from 12pm to 2pm for a chance to connect with our COO, Dr Anna Dulic-Sills, in an informal setting. These sessions will be an opportunity to ask questions, share ideas and discuss issues affecting our University. Professional and technical services staff, academic staff, researchers and PhD students are all welcome to attend.
