Congratulations to Dr Baba Sheba, Director of Digital Education at St George's, University of London, on being awarded a Principal Fellowship from Advance HE.

Principal Fellowships are awarded to professionals who demonstrate sustained, effective and impactful strategic leadership of high-quality learning. Baba was awarded the Principal Fellowship for his commitment to enhancing the quality of higher education through innovative digital education strategies and technology.

Reflecting on receiving this well-deserved accolade, Baba said:

“I see it as a testament to the collective efforts of our team at St George's. Whilst I lead on much of this work, I'm incredibly blessed to have amazing staff with both expertise and passion for improving the education experience here at St George's.

“It reaffirms our direction in digital education and the impact of our work on the student learning experience. This recognition also motivates me to continue driving forward our digital education strategy and ongoing transformative work, ensuring we remain innovative, inclusive, and effective.” 

Sharing more about his work at the University, Baba said: “My principal claim to sustained strategic leadership relates to the ways I have led the use of technology to deliver improvements in education at St George’s. This includes leading the Centre for Technology in Education (CTiE) and the Professional Education Centre (PEC), providing institutional leadership on digital accessibility compliance and development, setting up and leading our Edtech governance, response to the Covid-19 pandemic, and mentoring and supporting others to excel.”

Speaking about the award further, he said: “This recognition is not just a personal achievement but a reflection of our shared vision and hard work in transforming education. I want to recognise the incredible support from the Centre for Innovation and Development in Education staff and Sally Mitchell, and from both Professor Jane Saffell and Professor Jenny Higham for creating an environment that supports individual development.”
