St George's and City have merged. Find out more.

The Dragon Bar is the main social space for students at City St George’s, University of London, and is widely used by students’ union clubs and societies to hold a range of events throughout the year. The Dragon Bar is also open to university staff and staff from St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The bar benefited from an extensive refurbishment in 2017 and has been transformed into a relaxing and vibrant venue with a unique George’s vibe.

All profits generated from the bar goes back to the students' union (SU) to support the charitable activities the SU provides for students. So by using the SU bar, you are directly helping to support the students’ union and enhance the student experience for those studying at City St George’s.

Where, when and why to visit the SU bar

The Dragon Bar is located on the second floor of Hunter Wing and regularly hosts DJ nights, quizzes and other events organized by the students’ union events team. The bar can also be booked by Students’ union clubs and societies and university and trust staff for events. The flexible layout of the bar enables areas of the bar to be reconfigured to suit any event, large or small.

Opening times

The bar area is open all day Monday to Friday for student and staff use, serving soft drinks between 12pm and 1:30pm. The Dragon Bar opens at 5pm Monday to Thursday and 4pm on Fridays, and closes at 11pm. On events nights the bar can remain open until 2am.

What we offer

The Dragon Bar stocks a wide range of beers, wines and spirits as well as regularly changing local craft beers and ciders and our very own George’s Ale.

The Dragon Bar is professionally managed by Richard Ison (Bar Manager) and Kenton Jackson (Assistant Bar Manager) who between them have over 30 years of service within the SU! Richard and Kenton are assisted by a team of part-time student staff.

City St George’s Students' Union has its own loyalty card, the Dragon Card, which can be used in the SU shop and the SU bar to acquire points on all purchases. Your points can be redeemed against purchases in both outlets.
