St George’s conditions of use policy specifies that staff and students “shall be responsible for ensuring their email and other central storage areas are kept within quota”.
Once you hit your quota on your mail account or your home directory, your ability to receive email or save files to your H: drive will be frozen until you are back within quota.

If you are not sure how much of your quota you are currently using, it is possible to check this information online.
You will need to enter your St George’s username and password and you will then be given details of both your mail account and H: drive usage, which will be shown in megabytes (MB) and percentage used.
If you have a special reason for requiring extra storage space in your home directory (H: drive), or another shared departmental network drive, you can request a quota increase. Quota increase requests are subject to approval and may involve a charge.
Requests for an increase in mail quota cannot be honoured, but please note that email can be archived to your home directory (H: drive) instead.
If you have documents or files that need to be accessible to other people in your department or any other St George’s-based group, rather than using your home directory (H: drive) you can request a shared network drive be set up for this purpose. Please see the departmental and group shared drives for more information.
