The Clinical Skills Team at St George’s, University of London delivers clinical skills teaching to all medical undergraduates and provides an opportunity for clinicians to get involved in teaching and develop their teaching skills in a quality assured educational setting.
Our team also delivers a portfolio of sessions on assessment and teaching of clinical skills to clinicians and academics involved in teaching medical students. We pride ourselves in developing medical students as future clinical teachers and run a successful Peer Tutor Programme and an innovative Student Selected Component in Medical Education for final year medical students.
The Clinical Skills Team are a group of doctors from a variety of clinical backgrounds with expertise in medical education. This gives us a wealth of knowledge and experience that we can share with our students.
The team delivers the clinical skills MBBS curriculum to over 1,000 medical students on all our MBBS courses giving our students a strong foundation in all aspects of clinical examination, practical and procedural skills.
We create a safe and supportive environment where students feel empowered to develop their skills using extensive resources in a simulated clinical environment during weekly small group sessions. Our lecturers facilitate high quality active learning through practical activities with a strong emphasis on integration of communication skills and multidisciplinary work in a clinical setting.
One of the highlights of the St George’s MBBS curriculum is that students start learning clinical skills from day one and follow an intensive clinical skills course in the early years. These practical sessions are followed by clinical visits where students can immediately apply their newly developed skills during interactions with real patients.
We are proud to receive consistently excellent feedback from our learners.

We run a qualified clinical skills tutor programme which provides opportunities for clinicians to get involved in teaching and develop their teaching skills in a quality assured educational setting. Our existing tutors find the experience of sharing knowledge with future doctors extremely rewarding.
