Dear students and colleagues,

As we are approaching 29 March, another milestone in step 1 of the Government’s roadmap to ease lockdown restrictions, we wanted to highlight the changes that will occur from that date.

  • Outdoor gatherings (including in private gardens) of either 6 people or 2 households will be allowed.

  • Outdoor sports facilities such as tennis and basketball courts, and open-air swimming pools, will also be allowed to reopen, and people will be able to take part in formally organised outdoor sports.

  • The ‘stay at home’ rule will end but many restrictions will remain in place. People should continue to work from home where they can and minimise the number of journeys they make where possible, avoiding travel at the busiest times and routes. Travel abroad will continue to be prohibited, other than for a small number of permitted reasons. Please see the University communication about travelling home during the Easter break here.

Please note there is no immediate change to the University's current working arrangements. Our teaching and research continue as at present, with any on-site activities conducted in Covid secure ways. Work should continue to be done from home where possible.

The senior leadership team is giving careful thought to the phases ahead, and will update the community on any changes as they become available.

Please see here for more details on the Government roadmap to ease restrictions.

University testing

Yesterday, the University received guidance from the Department of Health and Social Care confirming the continuation of onsite testing after Easter.

In light of this guidance, the testing centre will reopen on 12 April after a short break for Easter (week commencing 5 April) and continue to operate going forward.

Please attend the Wandsworth community testing facility the week of 5 April. You can book a test via the link here.

For more information about our testing facility or to book a test, please see the Covid-19 information hub here.
