Here you will find key statistics about the admissions process for Medicine MBBS. This page will be updated at the end of each admissions cycle, e.g. 2024 cycle data will be published in November 2024. The exception to this is the aptitude cut off scores, which will be published during the admissions cycle, once all interview invites have been sent.
Please be advised that the admissions data provided is historic and should be approached with this in mind. It serves as a reference point when making a decision about whether to apply for MBBS Medicine (5-year or Graduate Entry Medicine). We caution against using the tables to assess the likelihood of receiving a successful outcome in future application cycles as:
-
the number and quality of applications can vary year-on-year
-
our selection process is reviewed annually and may therefore be subject to change
-
it is not possible to predict what the UCAT and GAMSAT thresholds will be in any individual year, nor to use data from previous years to predict subsequent years’ thresholds
Please scroll down for data relating to Medicine MBBS (Graduate Entry).
Medicine MBBS (5-year undergraduate)
Please note, Standard Entry refers to applicants whose application year and entry year are the same. Deferred Entry refers to applicants whose entry year is a year later than their application year. Where relevant, we have separated the two for clarity.

For reference purposes, we have detailed the overall scores we have required in previous years. Our standard entry requirement is 500 in each section with the overall scores determined each year based on the scores we receive for applicants. Occasionally, the required overall score is different for UCAS Clearing. These scores can be seen in brackets below.

The five-year MBBS programme is subject to overseas and graduate number controls. For overseas students, the Government limits our overseas places to approximately 9% of our cohort. Also, to ensure we are offering enough places to undergraduate applicants (and because we have a graduate-only programme too), we have a cap of approximately 25%* on graduate students. In the main cycle, to ensure we are interviewing an appropriate number of applicants to remain within these number controls, we rank each category separately to determine the UCAT cut off scores. The cut off score may differ between categories, like in 2021, but could also be the same, as seen in 2020.
Within each category, we invite to interview all eligible applicants who have achieved the UCAT cut off score for their category.
*Accurate for the 2021-2024 cycles. May change with each admissions cycle.
Medicine MBBS (4-year graduate entry)
Please note, Standard Entry refers to applicants whose application year and entry year are the same. Deferred Entry refers to applicants whose entry year is a year later than their application year. Where relevant, we have separated the two for clarity.
As this programme is only open to Home fee payers, we have not separated applicant numbers into Home and Overseas.

The four-year MBBS Graduate Entry programme is open to home fee-paying graduate students only. All eligible applicants are ranked by GAMSAT score and the highest scoring applicants are invited to interview.
