A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) statement is an electronic document that is issued when you receive an unconditional offer.  It is stored on a database the Home Office can see.

It contains a unique CAS reference number which you will need to enter onto your online Student visa application form.  The CAS Statement gives you all of the information about your course and Student sponsor, and some of the information about money, that you need to complete your Student visa application form.

Sponsorship of international students is offered under the Student Visa Sponsorship and CAS Issuing Policy.

When will I receive my CAS?

We cannot confirm the exact date you will receive your CAS. It will be emailed to you once:

  1. you have met all conditions of your offer (including payment of the international deposit)

  2. (if applicable) we have reviewed the financial and supporting documents that you will be submitting with your visa application.

You might not need to provide financial evidence if you’re from an exempt country or have lived in the UK with permission for 12 months or more before the date of application, but you should still make sure you have enough funds. UK Visas and Immigration may ask you to show that you have them.  See our section on  financial requirements for more information.

We aim to issue CAS within 48 hours of all checks being undertaken.

I need a CAS to extend my visa

If you need a CAS to extend your visa to complete a course of study that you have already started with us, you will need to contact us. For more information, go to Extending your Student Visa.
