REF2021 Update for academics - 15 August 2018

From Professor Jodi Lindsay

REF2021 have recently released some Draft guidance, which is open for consultation until Oct and will be confirmed in Jan 2019. Most of the changes are expected, but I just wanted to alert you to a couple of changes regarding the eligibility of Outputs/papers :

  • The contribution of the nominated author is confirmed if there are NINE or less authors (in REF2014 it was five or less).
  •  The date that the paper was FIRST MADE PUBLICLY AVAILABLE must be between Jan 1 2014 and Dec 31 2020 (in REF2014 it was the journal publication date)

The changes have been altered on the slide set used for the REF seminars

As you know we are using CRIS to capture our papers and other data for REF. Some of you will have identified some problems with CRIS accessing citation data for all papers or generating duplicate papers or not being able to find papers. We have been working to make CRIS more functional, and attach a document to help solve some of these issues. We would be grateful if you could take a look and update any papers since 2014. The dedicated team in the Library are always available for assistance at sora@sgul.ac.uk

While you are visiting CRIS (cris.sgul.ac.uk) can we ask you to fill in your Professional Activities. We hope to analyse SGUL’s contribution to the research community soon, and we would also like to publish the results internally. Let us know about editorial roles, prizes or invited lectures, panel or committee memberships, external collaborations etc.

Louise Kim, our Research Strategy and Development Manager is sadly leaving us at the end of August. I am pleased to announce that Yvonne Castle will be taking over, and Yvonne will be happy to answer your queries about REF2021. ycastle@sgul.ac.uk
