Dr Gillian Colville

Research Fellow
Gillian's main research interest is on the psychological impact of intensive care admission. She is currently a co-investigator on a NIH project following families up after PICU admission in the US.

Gillian's main research interest is on the psychological impact of intensive care admission. She is currently working as a co-investigator on a NIH funded longitudinal project investigating the psychological impact of a child’s admission to PICU on families recruited from  31 units in the USA.

She has recently published on the associations between different coping strategies and the prevalence of work-related distress in staff on adult and paediatric ICUs and completed a PhD by Publication at Goldsmiths, University of London. In addition, she has completed projects investigating children’s memories of PICU; evaluating the impact of a follow-up clinic on parental distress; examining the prevalence of post-traumatic stress and burnout in ICU staff.

Gillian has recently retired as Head of the Paediatric Psychology Service at St George’s Hospital in London, after over 30 years of service in the NHS.
