Dr Edita Hamzic is a researcher at the Institute of Medical and Biomedical Education at St George's, University of London.

Her research focuses on the physiological status and functional effects of human stem cells of the bone marrow and their involvement in blood disorders. She is also exploring the expression of HOX genes in the blood cells of leukemia patients and their involvement in disease transformation and progression, as well as their changes with aging. Her role involves conducting clinical research and liaising with medical and laboratory staff at all levels.

She is interested in the research-teaching nexus and passionate about research-engaged learning. Dr Hamzic supports student learning through small-group teaching and supervision of laboratory projects of Medial and Biomedical Science students. She has been awarded Associate Fellow of HEA for her excellence in supporting the learning of St George’s students.

Edita is also the MBBS5 Life Maintenance Module Co-Lead.
