Researchers and academics at St George’s will be returning to the stage between Monday 13 and Wednesday 15 May as the nationwide festival, Pint of Science, begins at pubs across the UK.

St George’s will be represented across all three nights at Battersea Barge, with scientists from our very own community sharing their latest findings and insights. Tickets are now on sale for Pint of Science in Battersea, priced at just £5 per head.

Each night of the festival at the Battersea Barge will have a different theme. Monday 13 May will focus on ‘Hypnosis and Delirium’, featuring sessions on topics like the role of VR in student wellbeing and research centred on care, knowledge and meaning at the end of life.

Tuesday 14 May’s subject is ‘Cheating death: gene therapies, telomeres and immunity!’ This evening will put issues such as gene editing and cell senescence under the microscope, as St George’s researchers explore how today’s science brings us closer to outsmarting death.

The festival will finish on Wednesday 15 May, with ‘Get your blood pumping!’ This will be an evening dedicated to exploring how platelet research can transform blood clot treatment as well as how microscopy can uncover the workings of cancer cells and our immune system.
