The 2023 National Student Survey (NSS) results are publicly available on the Office for Students NSS website. They highlight a high level of positivity across several areas at St George’s and give useful insight into ways we can continue enhancing our students’ experience.
Thank you to all final year students who took part for your feedback.
Teaching
Teaching is once again our most highly rated area (with 83% positivity*). St George’s students particularly value the degree of intellectual stimulation (87%) and the way the course helps them develop the knowledge and skills they need for the future (86%), where we are performing above the sector.
Highlights this year include particularly high praise for Clinical Pharmacology (95.8%) and Radiotherapy & Oncology (94.3), and very good levels of positivity for Diagnostic Radiography (83.7%), Paramedic Science (82.1%) and Occupational Therapy (81.8%).
Overall results
This year we have seen encouraging results across several areas, including in response to a new question about how well information about mental wellbeing support services is communicated (77% responded positively, which is above the sector average). We will be working hard to ensure that all students know about these important services in the coming year.
There has also been very promising progress in student positivity across Assessment and Feedback and Learning Opportunities and Academic Support.
Staff across St George’s are dedicated to fostering an excellent experience for all our students. They constantly strive to develop opportunities for enhancement, and it is encouraging to see that this is reflected in this year’s feedback. We will be identifying new opportunities to signpost the broad range of support available to our students so that they thrive during their time at St George’s and as future alumni.
The feedback we have received through this survey will inform ongoing work across St George’s , that places students at the core of our activity. Projects such as our £5.8 million Education Transformation Project are boosting development of our teaching facilities, learning resources and study spaces, to create the best possible campus experience for our students.
