Former halls residents donate £1,664 to student Hardship Fund

Former residents of Horton Halls, St George’s Halls of Residence, have donated a total of £1,664 to the University’s student Hardship Fund. The donation has been made by a number of former residents who received a refund from Scottish Gas Network in response to a gas outage at the halls for a short period in March 2020.
The total refund from Scottish Gas Network was split amongst all the affected residents, many of whom chose to donate their £3.93 share to supporting student hardship.
Sports and Residential Services Manager, Matthew Bull, commented, “It’s heart-warming that so many of our former residents felt compelled to donate their rebate to support fellow students. It is testimony to the ethos of St George’s and our students that so much money has been donated.”
