Earn up to £700 working as a Student Caller
Published: 14 February 2023
Following on from the huge success of the Telephone Fundraising Campaign in 2022, applications are now open for the role of Student Caller for the 2023 campaign. The role is fully remote, will involve interacting with St George’s alumni and is a great opportunity to network with healthcare professionals while developing your communication skills and raising vital funds for student causes.
Those working as Student Callers will earn £11.95 per hour during training, going up to £14.34 per hour after completion of training. Some students working in the role earned over £700 during the 2022 campaign. There is also the opportunity to work flexibly, including evening and weekend shifts.
The campaign will run remotely this year, from Monday 1 May - Sunday 21 May. Full online (compulsory) training is provided, taking place on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 April.
The role is fully remote, will involve interacting with St George’s alumni and is a great opportunity to network with healthcare professionals while developing your communication skills and raising vital funds for student causes.
Each year, our team of students call alumni to update them on what’s going on across St George’s, as well as telling them how our team can help them stay connected to the university.
Students will receive remote support throughout the campaign from a Call Room Manager, as well as having the chance to get to know other student callers and take part in regular catch ups and support sessions from home. There will also be a chance for students to meet other team members and the Development and Alumni Team in-person at a free lunch event at St George’s.
Our campaigns raise money for vital student causes thanks to the generous support of our alumni. This year, we are focusing our fundraising efforts on raising money for our Hardship Fund to support students through the cost-of-living crisis, as well as raising money for our Annual Fund which provides flexible support where it is most needed across St George’s.
Reflecting on her time as a Student Caller in the 2022 Telephone Campaign, Ekarie Htike says: “I had an amazing experience as a Student Caller. What I enjoyed most was the invaluable advice alumni had to share, particularly as someone who was about to graduate. Hearing about their career paths was really inspiring.”
