The Student Online Teaching Survey (SOLTS) is an internally run module survey that gives students an opportunity to provide feedback for modules with a taught element throughout their programmes of study. The survey is delivered near or at the end of a module or period of study.

This academic year we are in the transitional phase of implementing the SITS-EvaSys integration. Module and student data is automatically extracted from SITS, and these data files are used by the Student Experience Team to create the survey on EvaSys.

Survey run details

The survey runs for 28 days; this is fixed as part of the automation process.

SOLTS surveys are not intended to run for project, placement, dissertation or non-credit bearing modules.

All module surveys will follow the below schedule:

Table detailing the schedule of SOLTS from the invitation date to survey closure.
Survey Invitation to Students

7 days prior to the module final teaching date (as held on SITS)

- If the module duration is under 14 days, the survey invitation is released on the final teaching date (as held on SITS).

Reminder to Students  +7 days from the survey invitation date
Second Reminder to Students (response rate <40%)

+13 days from the survey invitation date

- The second reminder is automatically sent to students if the response rate is below 40%.

 Survey Closure

+28 days from the survey invitation date

- Upon survey closure, the module lead will receive an automated report of the results.

- From this point the module lead can login to EvaSys+ to complete the reflections and Close the Loop.

Upon survey closure, automated reports are sent via the Evasys Admin (hosting@evasys.co.uk).

  • Module Lead - receives the full module report
  • Module Lecturers - receive their own individual feedback.

Module lecturers to be evaluated in SOLTS

Each module lecturer that is to be evaluated via a SOLTS must be added to this shared spreadsheetfor each module, at least 4 weeks in advance to the final teaching date.

This responsibility generally falls to the programme administrators, so please ensure they have the information they need well in advance. If the survey has been released, no further module lecturer components can be added or removed.

We hope this information is useful to you, but if you would like further support please reach out to us via experience@sgul.ac.uk.
