Every day, we conduct pioneering research to improve the lives of patients within our own hospital, throughout the UK, and around the world.

“St George’s is an exciting place to do research, with our focus on impact underpinning every aspect of our research strategy. Ranking joint 8th in the UK for Research Impact in the most recent Research Excellence Framework was a proud achievement, showing that, despite being a compact institution, our specialist focus enables us to drive transformative change in healthcare, beyond academia.”

Jon Friedland, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Enterprise)

We are privileged to be the only UK university to share a campus with an NHS teaching hospital. The onsite integration between researchers, patients, students and healthcare workers creates a vibrant environment, geared towards translational research.

Our researchers are tackling some of the world’s most important healthcare challenges, specialising in fields such as infectious disease, antibiotic resistance, neurosciences and cardiovascular research.
