About the event

Join us for this week’s Cell Biology & Genetics External seminar "Multi-faceted roles of retrotransposons in cancer genomes" to be given by Dr Ozgen Deniz (QMUL).

Ozgen’s lab focuses on the role of transposons within the genome. Transposons are repeated DNA sequences that have evolved regulatory regions to exploit the host cellular machinery in order to promote their own transcription and replication.

Transposons have diverse roles in cancer; in some cases, they can promote cancer by giving cells a growth advantage; in other cases, they can work against cancer by regulating the expression of genes that suppress cancer growth.

Ozgen will talk about the diverse roles of transposons within the cancer genome and how they may be manipulated to kill cancer cells.

This is an in person event only. We hope you can join us.
