Dear all,

Government guidance regarding face coverings has been updated.

From tomorrow and for the duration of the national lockdown until Wednesday, 2 December, Government advice is that face coverings should be used in all higher education learning environments. For students and staff performing teaching, this will include in any spaces where on-site teaching and assessments are taking place.

Once inside your learning environment, be that a laboratory, library or teaching space, face coverings should continue be used unless otherwise advised.

This is in addition to previous guidance that face coverings must be worn if entering the Hospital, public areas, and retail facilities on site.

Everyone must also wear face coverings in all common parts/spaces of the University which includes the main foyers, The Street, Library, Common Rooms, and Halls of Residence (but not individual flats).

We appreciate that there will be some students who may have an exemption for physical or mental health reasons; but would encourage those who do not to consider their fellow students and recognise their responsibility to ensure the safety of all who are part of the St George’s community.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Paul Ratcliffe
