The message below has just been sent to all students following recent media coverage about how universities should approach the start of next term.

Dear all,

You may have seen recent media coverage about the Government’s request to universities to stagger start dates for students returning next term and to offer further asymptomatic testing on campus.

We anticipated that this would be the approach for the new term, so our programme teams are already making plans. These will be shaped by when cohorts need to be back for on-campus teaching sessions and placements. We are not anticipating changing teaching schedules.

We will be offering asymptomatic testing on campus for students on their return.

To improve the delivery and communications of the testing offered by universities, NHS Test and Trace are asking students to complete a survey. Please offer your feedback via this survey link.

We will be back in touch by mid-December with further information about return arrangements for January 2021 and I encourage you to check your emails regularly to ensure you are up to date.

In the meantime, our campus asymptomatic testing centre is open until 9 December and then on 11 and 14 December for students and staff to have a coronavirus test. The aim is to identify asymptomatic cases, helping to reduce the risks to you, your families, friends and home communities when you make your journey for the break. Visit our Covid information hub for further information, and to book your tests.

Best wishes,

Paul Ratcliffe

Chief Operating Officer
