Dear all

Following new requirements issued to universities by the Government yesterday, we have been making plans to enable you to return home at the end of term during the ‘student travel window’.

Yesterday we identified on-campus sessions that fall within this window and worked with programme teams to consider alternatives. We will be in touch with specific cohorts with further information shortly.

Whilst facilitating this within the ‘travel window’ is straightforward for most cohorts, government guidance makes it clear that students on clinical placements are considered essential workers and should therefore remain in their placements until the end of term.

We are also working on logistical arrangements for asymptomatic testing and will confirm details with you as soon as possible.

While we are finalising the specific approach at St George’s, you may find the Office for Students guidance for the end of term helpful for general questions.

We are also continuing our work to plan teaching, learning and assessment from January 2021. I shared our approach in a video message on Monday and written information will follow.

In the meantime, if you do develop symptoms of Covid-19, you must self-isolate immediately and inform Student Services at coronavirusconcern@sgul.ac.uk, so they can take necessary actions and support you in self-isolating.

Thank you for your patience.

Professor Jane Saffell
