St George's University aims to recognise, value, and build on the varied and diverse cultures, education, and wider experiences of you. It is committed to ensuring that Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) is a golden thread through all activities whether part of formal taught programmes or wider extra-curricular experiences. The university is committed also to collaborative partnerships and co-production where students are involved in inclusive design. It recognises that there is much work to be done to align words, actions, and deeds to achieve real change, so the framework has institutional level and course level actions. It has also been informed by Professional Service and Regulatory Body guidance
The Inclusive Education Framework aims to bring together all the valuable work being undertaken in the university and our practice partners to support our students before, during and after their time at St George's.
It includes:
- core objectives for 2022 to 2024
- a course action planner for Course Directors to reflect on curriculum, learning, teaching and assessment of programmes, and the extent to which they are inclusive
- a toolkit with links to relevant resources. The toolkit will be developed to include subsections e.g., understanding key concepts in Inclusive Education, Reading Lists, Case studies of inclusive education practice at St George’s, and pedagogical guides.
The Framework is intended to be flexible and responsive, so that it can incorporate new concerns as they evolve, and we can communicate progress to students, staff and partners throughout the journey.
