A picture of Abeke TinubuAbeke Tinubu enrolled at St George’s through Clearing in 2019 and explains what the experience was like for her.

“The first piece of advice I would give to applicants is not to panic. At first, Clearing can be a very stressful experience as you do not know where you’ll end up; but by having your results at hand and contacting universities as soon as possible, you soon realise that applying through Clearing is a very easy process.

“As I spoke to the St George’s team on the day they were friendly and reassuring. I was asked what A Level grades I had obtained and what course I wanted to apply to. I gave them my grades and, within seconds, I had an answer on whether I could join the University or not.

"It took such a weight off my shoulders and it was such a smooth-running process."

Abeke enrolled to study Biomedical Science and has found the course enjoyable despite the complications brought about by Covid-19.

“So far my studying experience at St George’s has been so enjoyable. My course is exactly what I had expected and is filled with content that I am interested in and enjoy studying. St George’s is a small community which makes it feel like a family in which resources and questions are easily obtained and answered by your fellow students and lecturers.

“Remote learning was hard to get into at first but I soon realised that it gives you a lot of flexibility. Having the opportunity to pause lectures and watch them at your own pace makes studying remotely less daunting and allows you to avidly learn the content despite the current situation we are in.

“Overall, St George’s has been such a happy experience for me. There are so many societies that you can get involved in ranging from sports to anatomy masterclasses. The Students’ Union members are so friendly and easy to talk to and there is so much support throughout the University.”
