As always, students should consult CiteThemRight for citing and referencing their resources correctly.

CiteThemRight provides specific guidance for referencing AI . When citing resources such as ChatGPT, students should follow the citation order under Personal Communications on the CiteThemRight website (please login to CiteThemRight first using your St George's, University of London username and password).

At the moment, CiteThemRight does not offer any specific guidance on how to reference Artificial Intelligence (AI) using the Vancouver style, but you can follow these St George's guidelines.

Examples of how to acknowledge, describe and reference use of AI in an assignment

Where you have used AI in your assessment task, you must disclose this by appending a log with your submission in line with guidance you have received for submitting your assignment. Your log should include appropriate details regarding the use of AI in the development of your assignment in line with the published guidelines by:

  • acknowledging the use of AI
  • describing the use of AI
  • providing appropriate references.

  • The following prompts were input into Bard:
    • <List prompt(s)>
  • The output obtained was:
