Funded by Health Education England, The London Med Summer School is an online programme which brings together four of London's medical schools (King’s College London, Queen Mary University of London, St George's University of London, and University College London) to give 75 Year 12 students from across England an opportunity to find out what it is like to study medicine in London.

Working with patients and student ambassadors, participants will gain a greater understanding of the realities of being a doctor and the skills needed to succeed. The main programme will take place from Monday 15 July to Friday 19 July on Zoom.

The programme is aimed at young people in Year 12 from backgrounds which are traditionally under-represented at university and in medicine, alongside areas in the UK which experience limited outreach from medical schools.

The London Med Summer School programme forms part of a series of events run with the Medical and Dental Schools Council. Please see here for a full list of the programmes available across the UK.

If you would like to find out more about the programme, including this year's eligibility criteria alongside how to apply, you can do so via the Queen Mary, University of London webpages

Please note, applications will close at 09:00am on Friday 19th April.

If you have any questions about the programme, please contact the SGUL Widening Participation team by emailing wp@sgul.ac.uk.

Online code of conduct

We deliver a variety of workshops and talks online using video conferencing software. In order to facilitate these, and to create a safe space online for those participating, we have compiled online Code of Conducts. We require anyone who is attending The London Med Summer School to read these codes of conduct before attending. By joining the virtual event you are confirming that you have read and understood St Georges, University of London’s Online Code of Conduct (PDF) and Zoom Expectations and Code of Conduct (PDF).

You are welcome to contact Widening Participation Manager, Alice Long via along@sgul.ac.uk should you have any questions you would like to raise, either about the code of conduct or about attending events online.
