Raising Awareness of Verbal Abuse

More than Words is a new card game being designed via a Student Staff Partnership Grant led by Judit Csere, Joint Research and Enterprise Services (JRES) and Paramedic Sciences students Holly Parker and Jack Stallard. Designed to help raise awareness of verbal abuse, the game is in testing and seeks to become a valuable educational tool to support students and staff.

Anonymised Real-life scenarios

Students may experience or witness verbal abuse when on wards or in practice placements. This game has been designed around real-life scenarios that have been anonymised.

Gamification

Gamifying the experiences is a way of making it more accessible for participants to talk about difficult issues. The art work designed by Holly Parker shows various cute fruit and speech bubbles with the anonymised scenarios.

Opening up important conversations

The goal of the project is to support students and staff, open important conversations and bring the community together.

Support

If you are affected by verbal abuse, you can get in touch with the Student Life Centre, use the Report and Support tool to Report a case of bullying or harassment (sgul.ac.uk) or contact the Students' Union for support.
