Although we are returning to in-person interviews for the majority of our applicants, we recognise that this will not be possible for everyone. Therefore during the 2024 admissions cycle, we will be offering applicants who are classified as overseas fee payers to complete a Remote Multiple Mini Interview (RMMI) using SAMMI-Select software

Overseas fee payers will also have the opportunity to book onto on-site interviews if they are able to attend in person.

Since 2021, we have been successfully using SAMMI-Select software to conduct remote interviews, so we are confident that our RMMIs offer you a smooth and stress-free interview process. RMMIs provide us with the same level of assessment as our applicants undertaking in-person MMIs, but they allow you to complete your assessment from the comfort of your own home.

Step 1: Book in your interview

In your interview invitation email, you will have received a link to your Applicant Portal. Follow this link to book the time and date of your interview.

Please note, indicative dates of interviews can be found on our interview schedule page. You can then follow our guidance on preparing for your interview as if you were attending an in-person MMI.

Step 2: Record your interview

On the day of your interview, you will be sent an interview link. Your interview will take around 45 minutes to record and submit.

More information on the SAMMI-Select software and the interview process will be shared with you via email once you have booked onto a slot.

Step 3: Assessing your interview

Once you have submitted your interview, your videos will be assessed by members of the St George’s community, exactly the same as for your peers who are able to attend in person.

You will then receive a decision from us via email and UCAS Hub within 8 to 12 weeks

Can I choose to attend in person, or use a different interview format?

If you are living in or visiting the UK during your course’s interview dates and wish to attend an in-person MMI instead, you are welcome to do so. In this case, we are unable to reimburse any associated travel expenses and you will be expected to arrange your travel in such a way that allows for reasonable delays and disruption, as we may not be able to accommodate re-booking onto a new slot because of any international travel delays.

Whether you are attending in person or remotely, we are required to interview all of our applicants in a consistent way to ensure fairness and transparency in our processes. Therefore, we are unable to offer applicants an interview in a different format to the rest of the programme's applicants.

If you require our RMMI process to be adapted to your specific circumstances, please email interviews@sgul.ac.uk. Each request will be look at on a case-by-case basis.

I am unable to get to campus in-person but have not been offered a remote interview, can I do an RMMI?

If you have not been offered an opportunity to interview remotely but feel that your circumstances prevent you from attending an in-person interview, please email us at interviews@sgul.ac.uk with details of your situation and we will consider your request. An acceptable reason for RMMI invite would be you are a home fee payer but live overseas or are unable to get to our campus by land-based transport. Another example would be that you have a specific health condition or concern that prevents you from coming onto campus at the time your course is interviewing, or you have Covid-19.

Please note that if you live in the UK and are able to get to our campus by land-based transport, we will be unable to accommodate your request. We are also unable to accommodate requests for a remote interview if it is due to failure to book onto an in-person interview before the final interview date passed.

Will I be given a specific time and date to complete my interview?

You will be able to record your interview at any time up to 24 hours following 9:30am UK-time on the day of your interview. Please pick a time that is convenient to you, but we recommend starting sooner rather than later, in order to allow time for any potential technical issues or interruptions you may face. You must have finished your interview within this time. We recommend you begin recording your interview no later than 22 hours from the start time above to ensure successful submission.

RMMIs will be running during the regular interview cycle. For courses other than medicine, RMMIs will run from February to April, and slots will be released on a rolling basis.

What will happen for Medicine RMMIs?

Interviews for the Medicine 5-year undergraduate programme (A100) run in late November and December each year, in person. We will be offering one session of RMMIs in early January 2024.

Please pick a time that is convenient to you, but we recommend starting sooner rather than later, in order to allow time for any potential technical issues or interruptions you may face.

I complete an remote interview with you previously, is the process the same?
You may have previously interviewed remotely at St George’s or visited the Interview Hub page on our website, which outlined the process applicants followed to remotely interview in the 2021 and 2022 cycles. The process has now changed. Please disregard any previous interview processes you might have seen or followed.
What do I do if I experience any IT issues during the interview that I was unaware of at the start?

Please make sure to test your connectivity, video and microphone before you begin your RMMI. If you are having issues before beginning your RMMI, you may wish to try again at a later time or by using a different internet connection. If you unexpectedly experience any issues or concerns during your RMMI, please email interviews@sgul.ac.uk with your name and 6-digit candidate code immediately. The Admissions Interview team will then be in touch to assist you.

Please do not send multiple emails as this will delay our response time.

Please also be aware that our office hours are 9am to 5pm UK-time on weekdays, so if you are in a different time zone, we may not be able to respond immediately but will endeavour to reply as soon as possible.

I've booked a remote interview, what happens if I can't make it?

Please email interviews@sgul.ac.uk as soon as possible where your email will be processed and passed on to the relevant Admissions Officer. This must be done at least 48 hours before the start time of your scheduled interview (unless in response to an exceptional situation), otherwise we will not be able to reschedule your interview.

If you are unable to attend your interview, the Admissions Officer for your course will contact you to rearrange, where possible. Due to the limited number of interview slots, please be aware that you may be asked to provide evidence as to why you are unable to attend your interview. Please see the interview schedule page for the last available interview. This must be done at least 48 hours before the start time of your scheduled interview (unless in response to an exceptional situation), otherwise we will not be able to reschedule your interview.

Please note, we operate a fit-to-sit policy for our interviews, so by attending an interview for assessment, you are declaring yourself well enough to be assessed, and we will not be able to consider extenuating circumstances post-interview.
