The Information Governance (IG) Team

The Information Governance (IG) Team consists of:

The team work directly to the Director Information Services - Rob Churm - who is also the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO).

The team are responsible for:

compliance with UK Data Protection legislation and other information legislation UK and Overseas.(note FOIA & Records Management compliance is managed with GLAS).
the Information Governance Framework (Suite of policies and procedures covering Informotion Governance, Information Management and Information Security)
supporting the Information Governance Steering Group (IGSG)
supporting the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) and Information Asset Owners (IAO)
supporting the Institute and Departmental IG Leads with guidance and advice
supporting IT Services, especially around cyber security
the management of Data Subject Access Requests
the management of Data Incident Reports.
overseeing Data Protection Impact Assessments.
overseeing Privacy Notices.
working with external partners, including NHS Digital and the Information Commissioners Office, in the handling personal data
the University's NHS Digital Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) compliance and annual submission
maintaining the University's Record of Processing Activities, Information Risk Register and the System & Personal Information Asset Registers
overseeing IG audits and compliance checks
the management and promotion of IG and IG training across the University.

The IG Team (who work within Information Services) are located in 0.55 (Jenner Wing, Level 0).
