The Turing scheme is a new UK government funded study and work abroad programme, essentially replacing the Erasmus+ scheme. For 2022/23 UK has allocated £110m to fund international mobility opportunities for 35,000 students with greater emphasis on widening access and participation.
St George’s, University of London has secured the Turing grant for 2022/23 to support International student mobility activities that take place between September 2022 to August 2023 for placements that are from four weeks to a maximum of 12 months.
Participants will receive funding to support cost of living during their planned activities. The funding is grouped into three categories (Group1= High cost of living, Group 2 = Medium cost of living and Group 3 =low cost of living).

Grant rates
Student on placements lasting between four to eight weeks:
- To Group 1 destinations: £136 per week
- To Group 2 and 3 destinations: £120 per week
Students on placements lasting over eight weeks:
- To Group 1 destinations: £380 per month
- To Group 2 and 3 destinations: £335 per month
Grant rates for disadvantaged backgrounds
Student on placements lasting between four to eight weeks:
- To Group 1 destinations: £163.50 per week
- To Group 2 and 3 destinations: £147.50 per week
Students on placements lasting over eight weeks:
- To Group 1 destinations: £490 per month
- To Group 2 and 3 destinations: £445 per month
Additional support for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
The Turing scheme will fund up to a 100% of actual costs directly related to the additional needs.
