Erasmus+ is a European Union-funded programme which could enable you to spend part of your higher education studies in another European country.
Erasmus+ provides grants for international study to students on the following courses.
Medicine MBBS and Medicine MBBS (graduate entry): during the final year elective period, you can apply for grants of approximately 470 to 520 euros per month (depending on year and destination). The elective must take place in an eligible country and run for a minimum of eight weeks.
MSci in Biomedical Science: during one semester in your final year, you can apply for a grant of approximately 470 to 520 euros per month (depending on year and destination) in order to conduct your final research project.
Currently, we have Erasmus+ student mobility agreements with Leiden University, University of Barcelona, Radboud University Medical Centre and the University of Granada. These agreements allow MSci Biomedical Science students to conduct a research project in one of the research groups at these universities. We also have various agreements that allow students from different disciplines secure a traineeship at a partner university for a minimum of eight weeks.
Erasmus+ and Brexit
The UK left the EU on 31 of January 2020 and effectively entered a transition period which will end on 31 of December 2020, after which many rules will change.
The Erasmus+ Scheme runs on seven yearly cycles with the current cycle ending in 2020, however UK is guaranteed to participate in the current Erasmus+ scheme through the lifetime of the ongoing projects and beyond the transition period. Therefore, St Georges University of London will continue to participate in the current Erasmus+ scheme till the 31 of May 2023.
