We are a healthcare university. As such, we have dedicated facilities to help you prepare for the clinical environment.
Paramedics have to be prepared for all environments and be ready to treat patients. To prepare students for this task, we immerse students in a variety of environments. We use our simulation and immersion suite to do this.
Opened last year, this state of the art facility includes:
two complete mock-up ambulance interiors
a mock apartment with living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom
an immersion room which uses visual projections, sound and lighting to recreate the audio visual environment of a nightclub, farm and busy urban area.
These facilities, in addition to the 2,250 hours of placement, mean that our graduate paramedics are some of the most sought after, and confident, in the service.
We have a large number of clinical cubicles to help students across many of our courses build their skills in physical examinations and get used to a clinical environment.
These facilities are especially useful for Physician Associate, Medicine and Physiotherapy students, and are critical to our hands-on approach to student development.
At our shared Advanced Patient Simulation Centre we train 3,000 students and healthcare workers a year. Hi-tech, computer-controlled manikins accurately replicate a range of medical conditions, including heart failure and lung problems.
An optional one-day surgical skills course, run by the Royal College of Surgeons, enables you to practise removing cysts and lesions, suturing, hand-tying, and administering local anaesthetics in a state-of-the-art, artificial setting.
We are situated in the heart of Tooting, South London. Tooting is famous for being the birthplace of London Mayor Sadiq Khan, the market, and its amazing, affordable restaurants and bars. You can view our campus on one of our Open Days or Campus Tour events. Have a look at the visit us section of our website to view and book onto these events.
