GCSEs

Grades Grade 6 / B or above in a minimum of five subjects
Subject Five subjects which must include English Language and Maths with Biology and Chemistry. Alternatively, we will accept Double / Triple award science.
Additional information
We do not accept Adult Literacy and Numeracy or Functional Maths instead of GCSEs

A Levels

We do not accept BTEC or Access Diploma qualifications for Biomedical Science BSc.

Grades ABB
Subjects

Biology and Chemistry plus one other subject.

General Studies and level 3 Key Skills are not accepted.

Adjusted Criteria 

If you attend a school or college in England from this list (i.e. a non-selective state school with an average A-Level grade of D+ or below, or one that is in the bottom 20% in England for progression to Higher Education) then you may be eligible to receive an adjusted A-Level offer two grades lower than the standard for the course.

For Biomedical Science BSc this will be an A Level offer of BBC.

You will still have to meet all other academic and non-academic entry requirements.

Resits

We will consider your application if you are re-sitting your A levels (including AS levels and modular resits) over 3 years. However, you will be required to achieve higher grades. Re-sit applications will be assessed on an individual basis, as offers may be dependent on achieved Biology and Chemistry grades. Any re-sit grades will supersede previous grades.

Personal statement We look for able students who have a strong interest in their chosen subject and are willing to work hard. Your success in Biomedical science will be underpinned by a good understanding of biology and a thorough knowledge of the principles of chemistry.

As a guide, your personal statement should include:
 - what in particular interests you about biomedical science
 - the extra activities you may have undertaken to support this interest. Any participation in extra-curricular activities relating to science may be beneficial to your application

Please remember that your personal statement should be subject specific, not general. You will also be expected to have an awareness of current issues and include any other relevant information to support your application.
