We have prepared a comprehensive pre-departure guide (PDF) to help you get ready for an experience of a lifetime. This guide provides practical pre-arrival and induction information to help students coming from outside the UK plan their move to St George’s. It includes guidance on travelling to St George’s, opening a bank account, living in the UK and the university’s support services. It also has useful information about daily life in the UK (for example, British culture, UK celebrations and public holidays) and provides some practical advice from current international students to help you settle in.

There is a lot of information to take in, so take your time and read carefully!

Safety and security issues are very important, not just when you first arrive but throughout your stay, so we strongly recommend that you read the booklet Staying Safe in the UK (PDF) created by the British Council for international students. This guide highlights some of the health, safety and security issues you may need to be aware, offers sensible advice and list organisations to contact if you or someone you know needs help or support.

For students who have obtained a Student visa, the section on enrolment includes information on collecting your BRP on arrival.
