Clearing is now closed

Clearing is now closed for 2021, if an applicant has already started an application it will be processed. If you are interested in undergraduate study for 2022, please visit our Explore St George’s page.

When can I apply?

We've set out information about when you can apply to St George's, University of London through Clearing and Adjustment in the tabs below.

You must have your results and be registered with UCAS to apply through Clearing.

If you already have your results (you may be an International Baccalaureate (IB) student or have taken A Levels in a previous year) you can apply to St George’s from 5 to 23 July 2021.

Between 24 July and 9 August 2021, applications will be closed.

Applications will reopen on Tuesday 10 August 2021 when many students receive their A Level results. Clearing will remain open as long as places are available – but most of these go quickly.

Please note, you must not hold an offer with another university when making your application.

Please only refer yourself to us on UCAS Track if you have received an offer to study. If you do receive an offer to study, we will send you instructions on how to refer yourself to us on UCAS Track at the appropriate time. Applying via our online Clearing form, and/or being invited to attend an interview are not considered an offer to study.

Adjustment takes place over a tight window: it starts once your firm-choice university confirms your place i.e. when your offer is changed on UCAS from ‘conditional firm’ to ‘unconditional firm’.

For most students this will be Tuesday 10 August 2021, A Level results day.

You will then have exactly 5 days (5 x 24 hours), including weekends, to use Adjustment.

You can use this time to look for an alternative course whose requirements you didn’t expect to meet, whether at the same university or a different one. Don’t worry, you’ll keep your existing ‘unconditional firm’ offer until you accept an alternative offer, so you can look around for alternatives without risk.

Note that Adjustment is only available until 18 August 2021. For more information visit UCAS.

How do I apply?

Clearing and Adjustment applications must be made online. Please do not call the university unless you are having trouble submitting the online application form.

Once you have your results, follow the process below to apply through Clearing or Adjustment.

The application process

Register on UCAS

Once you are registered, and if you are eligible, you will have the opportunity to enter Clearing or Adjustment in UCAS.

If you’re not sure whether you’re eligible for Clearing or Adjustment, you can check on your UCAS Track whether you’ve secured your firm or insurance choice.

If you have met and exceeded the conditions of your firm offer and you want to apply for another course, you will need to enter Adjustment rather than Clearing.

Fill out application form

Submit your application via the application form on our website.

You will need the following information:

  • Your UCAS Personal ID number

  • Your Level 2 (GCSEs or equivalent) and Level 3 (A Level or equivalent) results, or your degree result

  • UCAT (for Medicine applications, if there are places available)

  • Your email address

  • A contact telephone number

  • Which course(s) you want to apply for

Our step by step guide explains how to complete your Clearing application form.

After you submit this form, you will receive an email confirming that we have received your application.

Look out for an email or call from us

Our Clearing team will review your application and aim to get in touch within 1 working day via phone or email. Please make sure your phone number is correct on your application form and you keep your mobile on you.

We hope to call you with an offer to study with us but there could be other reasons such as:

  • you may be invited to a remote interview

  • we might discuss an alternative course with you

  • you may be asked for further information about your application

If your application is unsuccessful (whether before or after the interview phase) we will notify you by email.
