Professor Mike Sharland made a CBE in Queen’s Birthday Honours

Mike Sharland has been made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for his work on antimicrobial resistance, in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours.

Professor Sharland, based in the Institute for Infection and Immunity, is one of the UK and Europe's leading experts on antimicrobial prescribing. His principal research interest centres on optimising the use of microbials in children. He is also a consultant in paediatric infectious diseases at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
