Having shaped healthcare in Britain for nearly 7 decades, the NHS is one of our most recognisable, loved and celebrated national institutions, and one that has influenced the lives of everyone at St George's.

As we approach this historic milestone on the 5th July, we'd like to invite our alumni to share your stories about working in the NHS. We'd like to hear about your most memorable moments, the technoligical innovations in treatment and medicine that have shaped your practice, your highs and lows, why you love the NHS and what you have learnt about yourself as a person.

The NHS is the UK's largest employer, with over 1.5 million staff from all over the world and more than 350 different careers. It all began on 5 July 1948 when Aneurin Bevan launches the service at Park Hospital in Manchester. The government aimed to provide free services to all UK residents by bringing healthcare providers together under one organistion.

With St George's history being so intricately linked with that of the NHS, we'd like to take this opportunity to celebrate the UK's National Health Service.
