Around 230 alumni, staff, students and guests descended on St George’s last week for Paul Sinha’s Comedy Reunion. Organised by the St George’s Development and Alumni Office, the event consisted of a St George’s themed comedy set from alumnus Paul Sinha, preceded and followed by a reunion in the Students’ Union bar.

The event raised more than £1,700 for the St George’s Annual Fund, which supports a variety of student grants, initiatives and support schemes.

Paul, who is known for his role on ITV quiz show ‘The Chase’ as well as being a stand-up comic, graduated from St George’s in 1996 and practised as a doctor for 12 years before turning to comedy and quizzing full time in 2008.

Guests were welcomed by Dean of Students and fellow alumna Aileen O’Brien. Paul had the crowd in stitches with a bespoke, one-night-only set written specially for the St George’s audience. His set covered his time at university, his early adventures in medicine and his journey in to show business.

It was a walk down memory lane for many attendees, with one alumna saying, “Paul was so good and the opportunity to meet up with my old friends back in the bar we used to enjoy 20 years ago was great fun!”

Jenny Higham, Principal, said, “It was a huge pleasure to see such a great turn out and to welcome so many alumni back to St George’s. For many it was their first visit since they graduated, and we hope to welcome them back again soon.”

The Development and Alumni Relations team would like to say a huge thank you to Paul for giving up his time, and to everyone involved in making the event a success, including the Estates and Facilities team and the Students’ Union.
