St George’s has four research institutes, which have brought together academics and clinicians from related areas of research:

The 2014 Research Excellence Framework assessment rated 70 per cent of St George’s research submissions as internationally excellent or world leading. St George’s was ranked top in the world for citations in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018.

St George’s close integration with its adjoining hospital provides a number of benefits to research collaboration; primarily, it ensures that the research is rooted in the realities of clinical practice and that it addresses clinical priorities.

The university and the hospital together form a co-located teaching hospital and healthcare-university partnership in south London, sharing the tripartite mission of medical schools and their teaching hospitals – teaching, research, and clinical service.

St George’s has a partnership with Kingston University in the Joint Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education, which has a significant role in the training of allied healthcare professional and paramedics.

The Joint Research and Enterprise Services (JRES) support all research activities across both the university and the Trust and can guide you to the principal investigators in your field of interest, or help you find a collaborator. We then remain at your service to provide support throughout your research project on areas such as funding, clinical research set up and management.
