If you are an applicant who received an offer for 2021, but were unsuccessful due to the grades issued to you, we will be pleased to honour your 2021 offer for 2022 entry if you go on to meet the conditions of your offer in 2022. You will not be required to reinterview or retake the aptitude test (if applicable). Please note, you will need to sit the autumn 2021 exams to be eligible for the below scheme. If you’d like to participate in this scheme on the basis of summer 2022 exams, you will need to provide evidence that the autumn 2021 exams are not available to you.

Please follow the process below so that we know that you would like us to consider you for 2022 entry.

Step 1

Apply to us via UCAS by the UCAS deadlines. Ensure you include your 2021 grades, and predicted grades for your 2022 exams.

  • Medicine UCAS deadline: 15 October 2021

  • All other courses UCAS deadline: 15 January 2022

Step 2

Complete the form as soon as you have submitted your UCAS application, and by no later than the below deadline so that we are aware you would like us to consider you based on your 2021 application, rather than as a new applicant. If you do not complete the form below, you will be treated as a new applicant and will be required to reinterview, and retake the aptitude test where applicable.

  • Medicine form deadline: 31 October 2021

  • All other courses form deadline: 31 January 2022

Will taking exams in autumn 2021 or summer 2022 after being issued grades in 2021 count as a retake?

No, we will not consider 2022 exams after being issued 2021 grades as a retake as long as it is your first attempt. If you took the autumn series of exams, and then also took the summer series of exams for the same subject, this would be considered a retake. Most of our courses do allow exams to be retaken, but please note for Medicine applicants, only your first attempt (either autumn 2021 or summer 2022) will be considered.

Will taking the autumn exam count as taking a third year to achieve my grades, therefore, falling outside the two-year rule some programmes have?
No, unless you have to take part in additional education, we will not consider the autumn exams as a third year of study. We will view them as a delayed completion of your second year of study.
What happens if I take the autumn exam and achieve a lower grade than my teacher assessed grades?

We are pleased to confirm that we will accept whichever is your highest grade across both the teacher assessed or autumn exams.

Can I take exams in the autumn 2021 and summer 2022 series of exams?

Yes, you can take some exams in autumn 2021 and others in summer 2022 if you can evidence that autumn exams were not available for all your subjects. However, please note, we have varying policies around what will be considered a retake. If you took the autumn series of exams, and then also took the summer series of exams for the same subject, this would be considered a retake. Most of our courses do allow exams to be retaken, but please note for Medicine applicants, only your first attempt (either autumn 2021 or summer 2022) will be considered.

Can my offer be reinstated if I initially chose you as my insurance choice?

If your firm choice is also reinstating 2021 offers, we advise you to go to you firm choice, but if you would like to be considered for 2022 entry, you are welcome to reapply.

If your firm choice has confirmed that they will not be able to honour your 2021 offer, then you are welcome to request we reinstate your offer at St George’s. We would require written confirmation from your firm choice that they are not honouring your 2021 offer. This should be emailed to admissions@sgul.ac.uk in conjunction with completion of the online form.
