Diagnostic radiographers are responsible for the acquisition of high-quality clinical images used to detect, monitor and manage disease processes and the effects of trauma.
As a diagnostic radiographer you will utilise a wide range of sophisticated technological equipment for different imaging modalities, such as:
- X-ray
- Ultrasound
- CT scanners
- MRI scanners
These are combined with a high standard of patient care.
This course will enable you to combine a science background with medical, biological and physiological sciences and to apply your training in a caring clinical environment.
During the course you will spend time at both Kingston University and St George's, University of London. Both institutions have excellent facilities for teaching and learning in radiography including a digital X-ray suite, skills laboratory and treatment planning software.
50% of the course is clinical which means you will work with real patients under the guidance of radiographers in a range of hospital departments. There is also regular shared learning with students from across the healthcare sciences, including medicine, biomedical sciences, physiotherapy, midwifery and nursing.
The degree will enable you to progress and study at postgraduate certificate, diploma and masters levels in areas of advanced practice and in specialist areas including Ultrasound and Radionuclide Imaging.
This qualification is recognised internationally and offers a range of career opportunities in hospital and other clinical settings, as well as management, teaching and research.

"Diagnostic radiography is a profession that integrates physical and biological science with caring and interpersonal skills, within a healthcare context.
