This course, which is open to graduates in any discipline, aims to meet the need for more doctors in the UK by widening access to people with non-traditional qualifications.
Students in this country are forced to make an early choice between arts and sciences, and many opt for arts because they can take an active part early on. In the sciences, you must build up a body of knowledge first. Graduates have more experience to draw on, good people skills, and have had more time to consider their options. So we believe they will make excellent ‘Tomorrow’s Doctors’.

Message from the Course Director
St George's has a well-deserved reputation as a friendly medical school. This, combined with our innovative dual-entry-stream course and cross-fertilisation with other courses, is, we believe, the reason St George’s remains a popular and competitive choice with applicants. We are very keen to maintain our reputation, and rely heavily on close links with our students so that all proposed changes to our course incorporate the views of the student body.
We have recently reorganised the MBBS course to bring our 4-year Graduate Entry Programme (started in 2000) closer to our more traditional 5-year course. The aim of this reorganisation was to build on the individual strengths of the two courses while producing a more shared experience. This will enhance the interaction between graduate and non-graduate MBBS students, which has been a traditional feature at St George’s. As always, we will be monitoring the progress of this new course closely to ensure quality is maintained and enhanced.
We are fortunate to have a number of other medical science- and health-related degrees on site, some run in conjunction with Kingston University. This gives our students an excellent opportunity to share learning with other future healthcare professionals, and to make a start on the team-building that is vital to the delivery of modern healthcare.
