Student support

You are making a major investment in your future by enrolling at St George's and all of the staff are committed to ensuring you receive all the help and support you need to achieve your goals.

Student Centre

The Student Centre is a ‘one stop shop’ for help and advice for all St George’s students. Three full-time staff are on hand to assist with everything from submitting coursework and paying fees to help with finding a GP or dentist nearby. The team also have all the contact information you need for both your university and wider community needs, and can point you the way of whatever service you require. The Centre is open five days a week from before classes start until after they’re finished, and there is online support available 24/7.

Personal Tutor Network

St George’s has a strong personal tutor network and all students have a tutor from day one. Tutors meet students regularly and can provide help and advice on academic matters; they can also answer any questions about the course or listen to any concerns. Personal tutors may also be able to help with personal problems or suggest someone else to talk to.

Counselling Service

The Counselling Service team is made up of caring professionals who have helped many students over the years to cope with or overcome relationship issues, work stresses and family problems. Attendance is entirely voluntary and strictly confidential. The emphasis is on listening to students, exploring options, discussing possible ways forward and offering impartial advice. If ever you have a problem that is causing you concern or threatens to put up a barrier to your progress at St George’s, the counsellors' door is always open.

Disability support

St George’s has a full-time Disabilities Officer, whose job it is to make sure that disabled students are properly supported. We aim to make our courses and environment as open as possible to all who are academically able to enjoy and benefit from them.

Chaplaincy

The SGUL Chaplaincy is a pastoral resource for students of all faiths and those who have no particular religious affiliation. The Chaplain offers support in whatever way is needed most, socially, pastorally and spiritually. The SGUL Chaplaincy also maintains close links with counterparts in the NHS Trust and representatives of local faith groups.
