An elective placement with St George's offers you the opportunity to explore a particular area of medicine, learn about yourself and sample life in London. If you do not hold an EEA or Swiss passport, you will need to apply for a Tier 4 (General) visa. We aim to make your visa application process as smooth as possible.

A 155 bus driving through Tooting

If you do not hold a British passport and are from outside the EEA or Switzerland, you will need to apply for and receive a Tier 4 (General) visa before you travel to the UK to begin your placement. Please note that you cannot apply for a Tier 4 (General) visa more than three months before the start of your placement.

Please refer to our guidance on the Tier 4 (General) visa application process.

If you do require a Tier 4 (General) visa, please ensure that you have satisfied all of our entry requirements. Until all of the entry requirements are met, we cannot issue you with the CAS number, necessary for your Tier 4 (General) visa application.
