Professor Paul Booton is Professor of General Practice and Primary Care at St George's, University of London. His interests are in curriculum innovation and assessment.
At Guys and St Thomas' medical school he helped establish one of the first early years clinical experience schemes. At King's College Hospital he developed the King's Medical firm in the community - the first experiment to teach mainstream medical specialties in a primary care setting. He led the development of the King's New Curriculum and its merger with Guys and St Thomas', including the highly innovative GKT final year. He then moved to Imperial College London to re-invigorate the general practice teaching and developed a number of curricular innovations, in particular a new finals examination.
Professor Booton was appointed Chair of Primary Care at St George's in 2012. He is head of the general practice group and leads the Centre for Innovation and Development in Education within the Institute Of Medical and Biomedical Education.
Professor Booton Chairs the OSCE examination board (transition year) and teaches widely across the curriculum. He teaches part of the assessment module of the MSc in Surgical Education, Imperial College London.
