Counselling service

Counselling service

Studying or working within the health professions can be both rewarding and stressful. At times personal and emotional problems can hinder concentration and make it difficult to study or work effectively. In recognition of this, St George’s, University of London provides a confidential counselling service, where students and staff are encouraged to talk about any emotional or practical difficulties.

What is counselling?

Counselling offers an opportunity to talk about any problems that might be worrying you. This takes place in a safe, comfortable environment.

Talking to a counsellor can enable you to develop a clearer understanding of your problems and their origins, and to explore more effective ways of dealing with them.

The counselling service is confidential and is separate from teaching and assessment processes. Find out more about counselling.

How to contact us and make an appointment

If you feel you would like to make an appointment our counsellors can be contacted by telephone or email.

If a member of staff is not available when you ring, please leave a message on our answering machine so that we can call you back.

You will find us on level two of the main St George's site (Hunter Wing). Turn left from the lifts and continue to the end of the corridor where you will find the counselling rooms on your left.

Please contact us if you have concerns about access or if you need further help finding us.

You can also make an appointment in person using the self-booking chart found on the noticeboard in the counselling offices corridor. This system is completely anonymous - just put a 'X' on the chart so we know when to expect you.
